What should I expect when I visit?

It is our hope that you will feel extremely welcomed the moment you arrive. Come early if you'd like, grab a complimentary cup of coffee in our cafe and make some new friends. If you have children, you can drop them off in our fun-loving, safe Children's Ministry, MetrOrange, before heading into the sanctuary for a passionate, contemporary worship experience and a practical message from God's Word.
No matter what your background is or what you believe, you will be welcomed at DC Metro because we believe that this is a reflection of God's heart! If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. Our heart is that you enjoy yourself in a relaxed, life-giving environment where you can learn about growing in your relationship with God, connecting with others, and most of all, experiencing God's love for you.

When and where do you meet?

We offer three identical services on Sundays at 9:00 am, 10:45 am, 12:30pm and 5:30 pm. We are located at 1100 N. Fayette Street, Alexandria VA, 22314, which is only three blocks from the Braddock Metro Station.

What should I wear?

Come in what is most comfortable to you because DC Metro is not about what you look like or what you wear. We are about loving God and loving people (Matthew 22:37-39).

What do you believe?

We believe God is crazy about you and desires a relationship with you. We believe that His Son Jesus became a man and died on a cross for our sins so that we can be forgiven and so that we can find the amazing life He offers for each of us. We believe the Bible is God's Word that invites us to and instructs us in His best and highest for us. We believe that as you plant yourself at DC Metro or another life-giving church, you will discover His incredibly good plan for your life through developing an authentic relationship with Him and His people.

What type of church is DC Metro?

DC Metro is a multicultural, non-denominational church that seeks to provide a real, relevant, and enjoyable environment for people to encounter God and be transformed by His love into fully devoted followers of Christ. We seek to share His love with others as we continue in the mission of “building a God-first culture” in and around the DC Metro area.

What does non-denominational mean?

Non-denominational means we are a Christian church that believes the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, but we are not a part of any denomination (Baptist, Lutheran, Episcopalian, etc.). Although we are officially considered “non-denominational”, we prefer the term “interdenominational” because there are so many different denominations and backgrounds represented at DC Metro, which we believe adds an incredible richness and diversity.

Who oversees DC Metro Church?

Pastor David and Taryn Stine along with eleven individuals planted DC Metro Church on September 9th 2007 underneath the covering of a church planting organization called the Association of Related Churches (For more information on ARC, see next question). DC Metro has an outside team of Overseers who provide accountability and support to the Lead Team of Pastors at DC Metro. In addition, every January, we provide our financial report to the congregation.

What is the ARC (Association of Related Churches)?

ARC is an association of related churches created to provide support, guidance, and resources to launch and grow life-giving churches. Currently, ARC has planted over 200 churches in 36 states and is planning to plant 2000 churches by 2020. Pastor David serves on the “A Team” (the second tier of leadership) for the ARC, where he helps provide creative ideas to church planting issues and coaches upcoming church planters.

What can my children/teenagers expect?

At DC Metro, your children and teenagers are our top priority. We offer a dynamic Children's Ministry (six weeks to fifth graders) called MetrOrange. MetrOrange strives to share the love of Jesus with our youngest blessings weekly during all Sunday services as we come alongside you as parents & caregivers to tag team teaching our children how much God loves them and what it means to know Him personally.

Elevate Student Ministries (6th through 12th grade) seeks to help students connect with God and with each other through impactful services, life-giving small groups, and fun events. Elevate meets at 5:00 pm on Sundays for a pre-party, attends the 5:30 service together, and has various other events and groups throughout the week designed to help students become wholehearted followers of God who impact their generation.

How do I get connected?

We are so glad that you asked! Helping you get connected is very important to us because we believe transformation happens best in the context of authentic relationships, so we're here to make this as easy as possible.

First, we have our Connection Track, which includes:

• Intro - A ten minute guest reception to hear why we do what we do & where you can meet some of the staff after each service
• Membership - An opportunity for you to hear about the vision and values as well as explore becoming a Member
• Discovery - A class where you can discover your spiritual gifts, your personality profile, and learn about opportunities to serve
• Dream Team - An opportunity for you to join one of our 15 Serving Teams

Second, we have a variety of Metro Groups (small groups that meet during the week designed to help you connect, grow, and build authentic relationships with others). At DC Metro, we believe everything is better when we are in community with each other. Celebrations are sweeter. Decisions are wiser. Problems are given perspective. The mundane becomes meaningful. Life is richer. We are known. God made us for Himself and for community. You can find both at a Metro Group!

We have three types of Metro Groups:

• Discussion Groups: Gather to discuss Sunday message
• Interest Groups: Gather around a common interest
• Dinner Groups: Gather to enjoy a meal together

Third, we offer once a month gender specific ministries:

• DC Brotherhood: Second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm
• DC Sisterhood: Third Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm

How do I go to heaven?

This is our very favorite question! God deeply desires a relationship with you and invites you into a personal relationship with Him. The Bible clearly teaches that we will spend eternity in heaven if we have a personal relationship with God, which is only possible through turning leadership of our life over to Jesus Christ and accepting His gift of forgiveness and eternal life. No matter what you have done in the past or how far from God you feel now, this invitation is for you. Romans 10:9 says, “If you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Pastor David gives the opportunity to surrender your life to God's leadership and accept Christ in every service, but you certainly do not need to wait until you are at church to ask God to forgive you, accept Jesus' free gift of salvation, and to ask Him to lead your life. If you make this decision, we would love to know so that we can celebrate with you and give you some next steps. Luke 15 says that all of heaven rejoices when one person comes to God!

Should I get baptized?

Yes! If you have committed your life to God, the Bible teaches every believer should be baptized. Just as a wedding ring is an outward sign of an inward reality, so baptism is an outward expression of your commitment to Christ. In the book of Acts, we see that baptism is a public proclamation of faith once someone has decided to surrender their life to God. If you were baptized before you made a conscious decision to follow Christ, we recommend signing up to be baptized. Baptisms, which take place during our Sunday services once a quarter, are an opportunity for your spiritual family to celebrate with you the best decision of your life.
